Established in 1911, The Friar Society proudly stands as the oldest honors society at the University of Texas at Austin. Over a century old, our society has been a beacon of history, service, and honor, representing the highest ideals of the university and its community.

Notable members include Harley Clark, creator of the UT-Austin ‘Hook ’em’ sign; The 38th Texas Governor John Connally; former Texas State Senator Cyndi Taylor Krier, current Texas House Representative James Talarico; Former Texas Land Commissioner George Prescott Bush; former UTSA President Ricardo Romo; and legal and business executive Linda Addison. Our legacy extends to the realms of media with Mary Walsh, CBS News National Security Producer; sports with NFL Hall of Famer Earl Campbell and American football player Sam Acho; entertainment with actor Glen Powell; and academia with Richard J. Reddick, Senior Vice Provost and Dean of the Undergraduate College at UT-Austin.
